When we first came to Alaska we drove the ALCAN Highway and all we could say and think was "WOW"!
Alaska is a priceless treasure. We found that out pretty quick!
It's pristine landscape and unending number of things to see and
do make it truly an amazing place to live and vacation.
Those websites, often, are built by people who do not even live in Alaska.
I once spoke with a nice lady that worked for a major tour company. She was waiting for arriving passengers at the Anchorage Alaska Airport. She was there to direct them to their tour bus.
In our amiable discussion she mentioned that she was actually from Florida. She was just hired for the summer to lead tours around Alaska.
Call us uppity, but Alaskans think we can do a better job of showing you our state ...
or, at least, we can add, greatly, to what the non-local touring companies are going to be able to tell you.
What you'll find on this site is, of course, all the essential Alaska travel information ... PLUS our photos and experiences as we go see for ourselves what you, and many others, spend a whole lot of money to see.
Like you, we look at the Alaska vacation brochures, watch the Alaska videos etc ... and then go do what sounds like the most fun.
In fact, my wife is always on to me about the stacks of Alaska travel literature, Alaska magazines etc. that I pack home, every week!
When we go somewhere, of course, we take our camera along. We take a lot of pictures to go along with our written experiences...then add them to this Alaska Vacation website.
Afterall, people pay a lot of money to come see Alaska. We would be foolish to sit home every weekend and not get out and "see and do" Alaska!
Many never discover the the excitement and attractions that exist right there in their own "backyard" and community. We didn't want this to be the case with us, up here in Alaska!.
There is still a lot that we haven't done yet, but we probably know someone (another local) who has. We'll
get their input and include it on this website, as well!
Alaska is big. You know that already, but did you know that it is bigger than the next 4 largest States combined?
For this reason, our Alaskan websiste will concentrate on our part of Alaska ... commonly referred to as South Central. With few exceptions, the focus will be from Denali (Mt. McKinley) and south to Seward, Alaska!
We love "showing off" our adopted state of Alaska and telling others about it!
We want your experience at our website to be different.
In addition to our own experiences, we know a lot of others who experience Alaska everyday, just like we do.
Not only will we be drawing on our Alaska experience, but experiences of other "full-timers" here in Alaska.
