Alaska Vacation Tips and Photos of "Full-Time Alaskan Tourists"

Get a Little Insight from the Locals

Welcome to Great Vacation in Alaska.

This website is full of Alaska Vacation stories, news, tips, videos and more.

The difference is that the Alaska Travel Information here is based upon my experiences and others who live in Alaska year-round.

When we first came to Alaska we drove the ALCAN Highway and all we could say and think was "WOW"!

Alaska is a priceless treasure. We found that out pretty quick!

Its pristine landscape and unending number of things to see and do make it truly an amazing place to live and vacation.

A Local Alaska Vacation Emphasis...not Corporate

One thing that I know is that many Alaska vacation websites are large, corporate, and impersonal.

Those sites are often built by people who do not even live in Alaska...especially when the snow starts to fly!

I once spoke with a nice lady that was working for a major tour company. She was waiting for arriving passengers at the Anchorage Alaska Airport. She was there to direct them to their tour bus.

In our conversation I learned that she was actually from Florida. She was just hired for the summer to lead tours around Alaska.

It is my goal to give you a more Alaskan perspective on this wonderful state!

Cruise, Fly or Drive to Alaska!

So whether you are cruising, flying or driving to Alaska, this site will show you...

  • ...what not to miss while here in Alaska!
  • ...what the travel brochures may not show you!
  • ...the best places to eat and sleep
  • ...how to get around Alaska!
  • ...how to really enjoy your vacation in Alaska!

Emphasis on Anchorage and Surrounding Areas

Alaska is huge.

If it were a country, it would be the 14th largest!

Because of its shear-size, I will concentrate mostly on the Anchorage area and surrounding areas.

The surrounding area includes places such as Wasilla, Palmer, Talkeetna, Girdwood, Whittier, Seward, Homer, Sutton, Eagle River, Eklutna, Willow, and Kenai.
