The Alaska Vacation Insider, Issue #01 -- Alaska Glacier Cruise and Anchorage Attractions February 17, 2009 |
Hello to All! Welcome to the first issue of The Alaska Vacation Insider! This first issue has been a long time coming, but I have recently added quite a bit of new content to the Great-Vacation-in-Alaska.com website! There are many commercial travel websites that talk about and promote Alaska vacations, but my website will be written from a local Alaskan perspective. My family and I live in Wasilla Alaska. The goal of our website is to give you insight that the travel brochures might not point out! As we experience Alaska, ourselves, we write about it and include the pictures! So if you are planning an Alaska vacation this year, or at some point in the future, our newsletter and website will be the perfect means to prepare. If you have already been to Alaska, I'd like to give you a special invitation to share your experiences ... and even share a favorite photo of your Alaska vacation.
You will find several places on our Great Vacation in Alaska
website!
If a friend DID forward this to you and if you like what you read, please subscribe by visiting... The Alaska Vacation Insider Newsletter Page
These are the newest pages that I have added to the website!
Alaska Bed and Breakfast"....when one comes to Alaska, a different kind of experience is desired. You don't come to Alaska to set up camp in a low-end hotel room."
Alaska Glacier CruiseRight at the end of last summer, my wife Sheri and I went on an Alaska Glacier Cruise with The "26 Glacier Cruise" outfit. We had a great time! Among other things, we saw several Orcas (Killer Whales)and a lot of Seat Otters. Be sure to read all the details...Anchorage AttractionsAnchorage is typically the starting point or the ending point of most any Alaska Vacation plan. Be sure to allot time to see what Alaska's largest city has to offer...Anchorage Attractions - What To Do in Anchorage The Alaska Native Heritage CenterMost visitors are surprised to find out that Alaska has eleven distinct Native cultures...not just one! And I was surprised at how much fun I had during my visit to The Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage.Read about our visit
Winter in AlaskaThe Winter in Alaska page will be an ever-expanding page, but right now I have uploaded a video. The video shows my son Kyle throwing a cup of boiling water into the air. What you will see is that the boiling water will freeze before it hits the ground! The temperature, at the time, was -22 degrees Fahrenheit. That is -30 Celsius. Watch it. It is fun to see. New! Alaska Video PageThis page will also be an ever-growing page, but yesterday I uploaded three videos. Two of the videos are short clips of Potter Marsh, a popular bird-watching location, just south of Anchorage.
The other video is of the Anchorage Coastal Trail system. It is
an 11 mile trail that hugs the Anchorage coastline. A great place
for walking, hiking or biking!
