The Millennium Hotel is not only one of the very closest hotels to Anchorage's Ted Stephens Airport, but it is also one of the most prominent. Everyone here knows of the Millenium Hotel. It plays a key rold during the annual Iditarod Dog Sled Race each year.The lodge-styled Millennium Hotel is located less than two miles from the Anchorage Airport and right on the infamous Lake Hood. (Lake Hood is home to the largest float plane operation in the world). When you look at the photo, you see The Millennium sitting on Lake Hood. What you see is the backside of The Millennium. After driving past the front of this Anchorage hotel, I was surprised by how "in town" it really is. This shot of the hotel is a bit desceptive, but if I own The Millennium, I'd use the photo as well. The Millenium is a great choice in a hotel if you are looking for a warm, cozy and a fancy place to stay. You'll love your stay there! The Puffin Inn
The Puffin Inn is another nice hotel that is close to the Anchorage Airport. Just head away from the Ted Stephens International Airport on International Airport Road and turn left on Spendard Rd. Puffin Inn will be on your left.The Puffins Inn appears to have grown over the years. You will see various styles of buildings that make up the hotel. Some look like they've been around awhile and then there are others that appear very modern. The prices vary a lot. I've mentioned previously that I drive for a limousine company part-time. I've drop several of my passengers off at the Puffin Inn. Some where repeat visitors and they had very good things to say about this Anchorage Airport area hotel. Best Western Barratt Inn
The Best Western Barratt Inn is located just off of International Airport Rd on Spendard. It will be one of the first hotels that you see. It will be on your right. I've not stayed at The Barratt Inn yet, but based on conversations with tourists and locals alike, a stay at this Best Western would be pleasant. The architecture of the building looks like a wedge and it is tightly squeezed in between the buildings next to it. Doesn't make for great hotel grounds to walk around on like The Millennium, butwhen you are sleeping...I guess stuff like that doesn't matter, right?
The Super 8 Hotel
The Super 8 is known by everyone. If you are looking for a less-expensive place to stay...this may be it. Of the five hotels mentioned on this page, The Super 8 is the furthest from the Anchorage Airport, but not by much. It is located on Minnesota Blvd. It is a little closer to downtown and within walking distance of many shops and other businesses in Anchorage's midtown. This particular Super 8 gets high praise according to various travel site visitor's ratings.
Courtyard By Marriott - 4901 Spenard RdVery popular and very close to the Anchorage Airport. Besides the Millenium, the limousine company that I work with drops more people at this hotel than most any other.More to come on this hotel...
Holiday Inn Express - 4411 Spenard RdOn your right as you come from the Airport. This is another great hotel choice that is very close to the airport. Contact the hotel at 907-248-8847.
