Best Anchorage
RestaurantsDespite
all the restaurant choices to be found in the Anchorage area, there are
clear-cut favorites amongst tourists and year-round Alaskans.
Here
is a quick look at some of Best
Anchorage Restaurants...according to me and other Alaskans:
Double
Musky Inn $$$$ Mile
.3 of Crow Creek Rd in Girdwood, AK 1-907-783-2822
The
Double Musky is very popular amongst Alaskans. It is located
45
minutes south of Anchorage in the town of Girdwood and has been been
around since 1962.
For years now, the
Double Musky has
drawn national attention. In recent years The Food Network
named
Double Musky in it's "Top Ten Places" and named it's pepper
steak
as "best in America"!
They
serve up a classic New Orleans menu prepared with
Alaska seafood such as crab meat dressing stuffed halibut served with
Creole burre blanc sauce. They also serve shrimp ettoufee, shrimp and
sausage jambalaya, lobster KaBobs and salmon au poirve, among other
mouth-watering dishes.
The
Double Musky is only open for dinner (5:00pm) and does not take
reservations. It is first come first serve and there is
usually a
line at the door...especially
on the weekends. Website
The
Panda $$605 E.
Northern Lights Blvd 1-907-272-3308
Voted
in 2005 by USA Today as "10 Great Places to Dine in the U.S." Then the
Chinese Restaurant News listed The Panda in their "Top 100 Chinese
Restaurants in the U.S."
The Panda sports a huge
menu of
authentic Mandarin, Cantonese and Szechwan dishes including 14
different soups. Open 'til midnight Monday through Saturday. Open 'til
10pm Sundays. Website
The Crows Nest
$$$$Hotel
Captain Cook, W 5th Ave and I St 1-907-276-6000
The
Crows Nest is perched atop of the premiere Captain Cook Hotel. The views
of the Chugach Mountains and The Cook Inlet is amazing and the menu,
which changes each month, is outstanding.
Be
sure to try their award winning wine list. The Crows Nest is open only
for dinner (5:30-9:30) Monday through Saturday and it is closed Sundays. Reservations
are recommended. The Crows Nest is the only 4 Diamond
restaurant in downtown Anchorage.
Seven
Glaciers $$$$Alyeska
Prince Hotel. Girdwood, AK 1-907-754-2237
Seven
Glaciers sits atop the 2,300 ft Alyeska Mountain and boasts its
fantastic views of the beautiful Turnagain Arm, the Chugach Mountain
Range and seven "hanging" glaciers.
To reach Seven
Glaciers Restaurant you will take a complimentary tram ride to the mountain top.
This will save you $16!
There
you will be able to feast on classic Alaskan menu items such as Alaskan
King Crab Cakes, Pesto Roasted Scallop Bisque, Pan
Seared
Curry
Encrusted Halibut, Mesquite Grilled Veal Chop, Grilled Alaskan Salmon.
Reservations are required. Dinner only
from 5:30-9:30.
This
is not an all inclusive list, of course. I'll be adding more
of
the best of Anchorage Restaurants as we discover them. I'm a
creature of habit and I love a sure thing.
This
keeps me from trying new restaurants, but I promise I'll try to break
that habit ;)
