| Experience Wasilla Alaska! | | Wasilla
Alaska is
simply amazing!
Nestled between the Matanuska and
Susitna valleys, Wasilla abounds with recreational opportunities.
In
fact, this region of Alaska is known by Alaskans as the place "where
Alaskans come to play".
It is my humble opinion
that any vacation in Alaska that
didn't include time spent in Wasilla would be less than complete.
This
is lake country and Wasilla is located on two of the largest in the
area... Wasilla Lake and Lake Lucille.
When my wife
and I first moved here in 2001, Wasilla just felt like home. We
purchased a home here and have lived here ever since.
We
fell in love with all of the lakes (there are a ton of them here) and
the mountain views...particulary that of Pioneer Peak looming
in the
near distance.
Where to Stay in Wasilla
Like
I said
earlier, if your vacation in Alaska doesn't include time spent in the
Wasilla and Palmer Alaska area, you will have missed out big time!
Wasilla
has only one national brand hotel and that is the Lake Lucille Best
Western Resort.
Additionally there is the
GrandView Inn
which was completely just a couple short years ago.
It is practically brand new and it is conviently located
and can't be missed as one arrives
in Wasilla.
One of the best things about Wasilla
lodging is it's strong Bed and Breakfast population. If you like to
stay at Bed and Breakfasts, then you'll love your choices.
Last
year Sheri and I discovered the Agate
Inn and it currently sits a top
of our favorite places to stay in Wasilla list.
Granted,
I
haven't stayed at all of the hotels and bed and breakfasts in Wasilla,
but The
Agate Inn is something different.

Places to Eat in
Wasilla Alaska There
will be more to come on this, but one place that is worth your while is
the Wasilla Family
Restaurant.
Sheri
and I took our youngest son Ethan out for breakfast the other morning.
We had eaten there several times before.
The
food
has always been good and I was happy to see, this last time, that they
had upgraded the quality of their menu. I'm talking about the
printing of their menu. It now includes photos of the food, a
bit
closer to what a restaurant like Denny's has for a menu.
An
IHOP opened in Wasilla several months ago. It took business
from
The Wasilla Family Restaurant initially, but I was happy to see The
Wasilla Family Restaurant literally packed on this particular Saturday
morning.
The IHOP was also packed also, of course.
Wasilla
has it's share of other fast food places, if fast food is what you are
looking for. Choices include A&W, Kentucky Friend
Chicken,
Arby's, Wendy's, McDonalds, Subway, Quiznos, Pizza Hut and Burger King.
I'm sure that I've left a few out, but
just rest assured that you won't go hungry while in
Wasilla.
