It
amazes me that I had lived in
Wasilla for several years before I discovered The Agate Inn. It was
only miles from my house and It really is Wasilla Lodging at it's best.
How
ironic that I too found out about it by surfing the Web.
We
stayed there last year at the end of August for our 20th wedding
anniversary.
The Agate Inn -
More a Secluded Complex Than Hotel
The
Agate Inn tucked back
in the trees right off The Palmer-Wasilla Highway. This is why I hadn't
noticed it before.
The Agate is actually several
buildings located on a culdesac. I found out from the owners
that they used to live on this culdesac and began purchasing the other
homes on this secluded culdesac as they became available.
Now
they own all of them and they are all painted with a uniformed blue
color.
We
stayed in the King's Suite. Oh
my gosh...it is big! Be sure to click on the pictures on this page.
Most will take you to larger photos of the room we stayed in.
The
room had a big hot tub, a king-sized bed and a small kitchen area
stocked with typical continental breakfast-type items. It was nice not
to have to go to a lobby to get breakfast.
Oh
and don't forget about the
recliner and the gas fireplace.
The windows out
the front of the room are spectacular! They are very big as
you can see in the photos I took. The view is not far
reaching, because of the trees and the direction the place is facing,
but you'll still love it there.
Located in the
center of the "complex" are the
reindeer. They all have
names, of course, and guest can go in and help feed them twice
a day.
Check
with the owners for the feeding times.
I went in
during their morning feeding.
Their fur is very
soft.
I had a great time. Look for a book in your room
that tells more about each of their reindeer.
They
are quite
fond of their reindeer, as one could imagine.
